NIGHT OF A THOUSAND STARS CABARET EVENT

The
stars were shining bright as the Michigan Parkinson
Foundation (MPF) hosted its annual Night
of a Thousand Stars Cabaret on Sunday,
November 4, 2007, at the Troy Marriott.
The
300 guests were treated to an elegant dinner and
live entertainment headlined by world- renowned
jazz musician Marcus Belgrave along his ensemble
of musicians. Local vocalists Rose Mullins and
Ami Ami Ami of Sugar and Spice, as well as classical
pianist John Repulski, rounded off the entertainment
line-up.
Throughout
the evening, a bidding war occurred
on the silent auctions unique items, including
one-of-a-kind pieces of art crafted by Parkinsons
artists as well as a jersey signed by famed Red
Wing goaltender Dominik Hasek.
This
years Cabaret evening was a smashing success,
says Debby Orloff, Chief Executive Officer. We
surpassed our goal by raising more than $50,000
to support essential services that the Michigan
Parkinson Foundation provides directly to people
affected by Parkinsons disease throughout
the state.
Parkinson
disease affects 35,000 individuals throughout
the state. There is no known cause and no known
cure, but effective treatment can help people
live productive lives for many years. The Michigan
Parkinson Foundation, the only organization in
Michigan providing a range of services to people
affected by Parkinsons, has more than 50
affiliated support groups. In efforts to provide
support and improve care, the MPF holds programs
for people affected by Parkinsons their
families and health providers, including a recent
major conference held in Plymouth, second opinion
clinics scheduled throughout the state, interactive
video teleconferences, information and referral,
and financial support for medication and day care.
This
evening was made possible through the support
of D & B (on behalf of William Greene), News/Talk
WJR/AM 760, Hour Media, Comerica Bank, Standard
Register, Wright & Filippis and The Observer
& Eccentric Newspapers.
